Jim’s Carpet One Floor and Home located at 3557 5^th Ave. So in Fort Dodge, Iowa was established in 1952 by Jim Porter Sr. and was known as Jim’s Floor Covering until 1995 when the business joined the Carpet One franchise. This business shift allows Jim’s Carpet One tremendous buying power and bulk product purchasing that we can pass along to our customers.

The current owners of Jim’s Carpet One are brothers, Dean and Tim Stuhrenberg, who have been with Jim’s Carpet One for over 45 and 30 years respectively. With over 140 years of experience collectively, our well-trained professional staff is ready to help and confident that we can handle all of your residential or commercial flooring needs. To further satisfy customer needs, Jim’s Carpet One also offers financing to our customers.

Jim’s Carpet One travels in a 50-mile radius of Fort Dodge, servicing a large area of customers. As may of you already are experiencing and as the rest of you will in the coming years, we are in a crisis in all construction trades in this country. The flooring and tile industry is behind the rest because we are not stepping up like we should or as the other trades like plumbing, HVAC, welding are.

These industries already have come together to solve their shortages and its time for our industry to do the same!

Most of you know Jim Aaron. He and his team have been working diligently on your behalf the past 2 years to get things in place for high school and older students to be able to take “local” classes via tech schools or community colleges. We have 3-4 going right now and a list of other markets wanting to add flooring and tile to their class offering. It takes Jim and his team to make this happen. They are willing to do the work, but they need your support financially.

We know the only way we solve this as an industry is together! Not in silos, not one manufacturer or group, but together as an industry! Each company and dealer contributing to fix the shortage long term. Our ultimate goal is to fund this via a penny or two per square foot added to the cost of our products by the manufacturers and passed all the way through to the consumer who would end up funding this.
